Jars Ministries was founded in 2004 by Rev. and Dr. Oscar Baldemor.
Medical Missions
Since 2007, JARS has conducted medical missions trips with volunteer teams from the U.S., local volunteers and local partner churches. Together, the volunteers give their time, talent, and treasure to reach out to a particular community with limited medical access. There, the team works with local volunteers and local churches to reach out to a community. The desire is to have a lasting influence on the lives of the individuals who are served. Jars wants to make an impact not only physically, but also spiritually. Medical Missions trips were started to provide opportunities to different groups of people.
First, it is an opportunity for medical personnel to apply their training and expertise outside a clinical situation. For doctors, nurses, medical administrators, home health care workers, and other medical professionals, participating in a missions trip such as this is an opportunity to serve the Lord by helping those in destitute areas. Jars chooses to serve communities wherein medical services are not easily accessible due to lack of monetary resources.
Second, it is an opportunity for individuals in non-medical fields to serve in other necessary capacities in administration, management, and spiritual counseling. People who work in fields such as education, aeronautics, finance, management, tourism, and technology have participated in various roles.
Third, this outreach is an opportunity for local churches to make their presence known in the community. Jars partners with local churches to ensure that the momentum does not stop when the team from the U.S. leaves. The medical missions trip helps to jumpstart the efforts of a local church. Ultimately, the church takes on the task of following up with the people who have heard about Christ’s love through the duration of the medical outreach. Last, it is an opportunity for individuals to have a financial part in sending those who participate in this outreach. God has called some to go and others to send.
Partnering through giving is an essential part for medical missions to be possible. Some have the capacity to give much, and others can only give a little. No matter the size of the contribution, the gifts allow the ministry to continue.
Educational Scholarships
Many ministry workers in the Philippines earn just enough for everyday living and cannot afford to send their children to college.
The educational scholarships were established to benefit those in such situations. The children of pastors and missionaries should not be limited by a lack of funds. These high school graduates have yet to discover their future, and the completion of a college education allows them to develop into the individuals God has created them to become. Jars Ministries International has provided numerous college scholarships to qualified students since the inception of the project. Those who have graduated are facing another chapter in their lives as they enter the workforce.
